The NeverEnding Story (Remake)














A remake of the 1985 text-parser adventure game "The NeverEnding Story", soon available for free for Windows, Linux and Mac.
Originally game was released in 1985 for C64, Amstrad CPC & ZX Spectrum and in 1986 ported to Apple II & Atari 8-bit.
Remake features:
- Gameplay
- No dead-ends anymore (therefor some puzzles are slightly altered).
- Parser
- updated modern parser
- the original game has a 2-words-only parser with a very limited vocabulaire library and no synonyms
- more interactions and more response texts
- in the original game there ware close to no interactions with room objects and characters.
- updated modern parser
- Graphic modes (palette versions)
- switch in-game between 6 graphic palette versions:
- Amstrad CPC color
- Amstrad CPC green
- Atari 8-bit
- C64
- Game Boy Classic (new graphic mode, replacing the Apple II version)
- ZX Spectrum
- switch in-game between 6 graphic palette versions:
- Music
- Contains the original music track from the Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit, C64 and ZX Spectrum. The Game Boy version uses the Atari 8-bit track.
- Contains also an edited looped version of each track.
- Music track is played during the game in repeat mode. In the original game it was only used as title song, except for the Amstrad CPC 128 version, which had the track also played in repeat mode during gameplay.
- Switch in-game between original or looped track.
- Loading Screens
- All six graphic modes have a loading screen. Added loading screens for Atari 8-bit, C64 and Game Boy, based on the Amstrad CPC loading screen. (in the original game, the Atari 8-bit and C64 version were lacking a loading screen)
