I have a long-time passion for remaking (or porting) old and often somewhat obscure adventure games from the 80s and early 90s. 

Mostly games from the old 8-bit systems like Atari, Amstrad, C64, NES, MSX, GB, GBC, SEGA Genesis/SMD, TI-83, and in some cases these game are originally only non-English. 

These games are brought back to life by reverse enginering and recoding them from scratch and giving them a more modern touch (think point 'n click system, improved interface, proper save-game system, etc). Often optional enhancements are added as well, like improved character walking area's, extra animations, extra interaction and responses, extra or new sfx and music and obviously excluding bugs that the original games sometimes suffer from. Non-English games are, of course, completely translated into English. 

This way people can enjoy awesome games from the old days on modern Windows, Linux and Mac systems without having to set up an emulator. And oh: they are all freeware :)
